Event Description

Welcome to the Hacktoberfest 2026 Open-Source AI Hack Day at National University "Lviv Polytechnic"! Organized by the Software Department of the Student Board, this event is your ultimate gateway into the global open-source community.

The Focus: Open-Source AI
This year, Hacktoberfest is celebrating the rapidly evolving world of Open-Source Artificial Intelligence. Whether you want to experiment with open-weight models, build applications utilizing local LLMs and RAG architectures, or simply make your very first pull request to an AI-related repository, this Hack Day is the perfect place to start.

What to Expect:

Collaborative Hacking: Team up with fellow Computer Science students and tech enthusiasts to build exciting AI-driven projects or contribute to existing open-source repositories.

Onboarding & Mentorship: Never made a pull request before? No problem! Our core team will be on the ground to help beginners set up Git/GitHub, find beginner-friendly issues, and submit their first successful PR.

Tech Stack Exploration: Bring your skills in Python, JavaScript, Java, or C++. We'll explore integrating AI using modern backend and frontend frameworks, databases, and APIs.

Networking: Connect with the local tech community, share ideas, and find teammates for future hackathons and startups.
