Build, Contribute & Grow with Open Source & AI
Hacktoberfest 2026 at KWASU is a hands-on community event hosted by Malete Tech Forum, bringing together students, aspiring developers, and technology enthusiasts to explore open-source artificial intelligence and discover how to contribute to open-source projects.
The event will feature introductory technical sessions, guided demonstrations, and collaborative building activities focused on open-source tools, open-weight AI models, and practical contribution workflows. Participants will learn how to navigate Git and GitHub, discover beginner-friendly projects, understand issues and pull requests, and take their first steps towards becoming active open-source contributors.
Designed for both beginners and experienced developers, the event offers an opportunity to learn, experiment, collaborate, and connect with a growing community of builders. No advanced technical experience is required. Participants are encouraged to bring their laptops and curiosity as they learn by doing, explore emerging AI technologies, and contribute to the open-source ecosystem.
Whether you're taking your first steps into tech or looking to strengthen your development skills, Hacktoberfest at KWASU is an opportunity to move beyond learning and start building with the community.
