Welcome to Bhaktapur’s official Hacktoberfest 2026 Hack Day! Hosted by Gurkha Technology, this year’s meet-up brings our local tech community together to celebrate global open-source development with a special focus on Artificial Intelligence.
Whether you are an experienced software engineer, an IT student, or a tech enthusiast making your very first pull request, this event is your opportunity to dive into the world of open-source AI tools, open-weight models, and collaborative programming.
What to Expect
- Hands-On Hacking: Dedicate time to finding and fixing issues, building features, or updating documentation for open-source repositories.
- AI Focus: Explore and contribute to open-source artificial intelligence projects, learning how to leverage and build with modern AI frameworks.
- Mentorship & Collaboration: Work alongside local developers, instructors, and peers. Get help navigating Git, GitHub, and project codebases.
- Community Networking: Connect with the Bhaktapur and wider Kathmandu Valley tech ecosystem, share knowledge, and build lasting professional relationships.

| 10:30 AM - 11:00 AM | Welcome & Orientation | Introduction to Hacktoberfest 2026, guidelines for contributing to open-source AI, and a quick Git/GitHub refresher. |
| 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM | Hacking Session 1 | Dive into the code. Start finding open issues, collaborating with peers, and drafting your first pull requests. Mentors will circulate to assist. |
| 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM | Lunch & Networking | Take a break, grab some food, and network with fellow local developers and tech enthusiasts. |
| 2:00 PM - 4:00 PM | Hacking Session 2 | Focus on completing contributions, testing code, and finalizing pull requests before the showcase. |
| 4:00 PM - 4:45 PM | Show & Tell | Volunteers share what they worked on, challenges they solved, and resources they discovered. |
| 4:45 PM - 5:00 PM | Closing Remarks | Final wrap-up, community announcements, and a group photo to conclude the day. |
