Hacktoberfest Hack Day Kampala x MUBS is a one-day open source hack day at Makerere University Business School, bringing together students, developers, and first-time contributors from across Kampala to make their first (or fiftieth) pull request together.
Hacktoberfest is a month-long global celebration of open source and this is our contribution to it from MUBS. You don't need to be an advanced programmer to take part. If you have never used Git, never opened a pull request, or have only ever written code for coursework, this event was built with you in mind. We will walk you through the basics from the very beginning: setting up Git and GitHub, finding beginner-friendly issues, forking a repository, making a change, and submitting your first pull request.
What to expect on the day:
Bring a laptop and a charger. Bring a friend who has been meaning to start coding. That's all you need.
Whether you study Business Computing, Computer Science, design, or something else entirely, there is a way to contribute. Open source needs documentation writers, testers, translators and designers just as much as it needs engineers.
Come and leave with your name on a real project.
