HornetHacks is a free, beginner-friendly, 12-hour high school hackathon bringing students together for one day of building, learning, and creating.
On Saturday, October 10, 2026, high school students from across DallasβFort Worth and beyond will gather at the Valdes STEM + Innovation Center at Greenhill School in Addison, Texas. Participants will form teams of 2β4, develop a project from scratch, attend hands-on workshops, work with mentors, and present what they built to judges at the end of the day.
Projects can include websites, apps, games, hardware, AI projects, data projects, or anything else students can build during the event. No previous coding or hackathon experience is required β HornetHacks is designed to be welcoming to first-time hackers as well as experienced builders.
Throughout the day, participants will have access to beginner-friendly workshops on topics such as web development, APIs, and AI, along with experienced student and industry mentors who can help with coding, design, debugging, and presentations.
HornetHacks is completely free for participants. Breakfast, lunch, snacks, swag, and prizes will be provided.
Come with a team or meet teammates at our morning team-formation session. All high school students in grades 9β12 are welcome, regardless of school or experience level.
HornetHacks is an official MLH Hack Day supported by Major League Hacking.
